Structured daily programming built around the things that make life rich — art, music, recreation, friendships, volunteer work, and community outings.
Day Supports is designed for adults with IDD who benefit from a structured daily routine, ongoing social engagement, and consistent support — but for whom vocational training isn't the primary goal (now, or ever).
For many participants, Day Supports is the foundation of an active, full adult life that complements living at home with family or in a supported residential setting.
Mornings might be art class. Afternoons might be a community outing or a volunteer shift at the library. Every day is structured — but never rigid.
Studio art, music groups, and creative expression that build skills and self-confidence — and produce work participants are proud of.
Adapted recreation, Special Olympics training, garden work, and movement activities that keep bodies strong and spirits up.
Weekly volunteer shifts at the library, museum, and community organizations — building real-world experience and community ties.
Money skills, cooking, safety, technology, and the practical learning that supports independent living.
The single most important thing many participants gain: a peer group, real friendships, and a place where they belong.
Trips to local museums, bowling alleys, parks, restaurants, and events — building familiarity and comfort in community spaces.
Day Supports is most commonly funded through Long Term Community Supports (LTCS) or the NC Innovations Waiver, administered through your LME-MCO (Vaya Health or Partners Health).
Our intake coordinator will walk through funding eligibility with you. For most families approved through their LME-MCO, services are covered with no out-of-pocket cost.
