Get Involved

Support the work. Change a life.

State funding pays for the basics. Your support pays for everything that makes a day at COI richer than a day in a facility.

Other Ways to Give

More than a one-time check

By Mail

Make checks payable to Caldwell Opportunities, Inc. and mail to 1617 College Avenue SW, Lenoir, NC 28645.

Planned Giving

Include COI in your estate plans through a bequest, IRA designation, or charitable remainder trust. We can connect you with our planning resources.

Donate appreciated securities and receive a tax deduction at fair market value while avoiding capital gains tax.

Workplace Giving

COI is a United Way of Caldwell County partner. You can designate gifts through workplace giving campaigns.

In Honor / In Memory

Make a gift in honor of a loved one. We'll send a card to the family acknowledging your gift (amount not disclosed).

Wishlist Items

Art supplies, books, board games, salon supplies, garden tools. Contact us for the current wishlist.

Volunteer

Bring your time and your talent

Whether you have an hour a week or a half-day a month, volunteers help us deliver an even richer experience for our participants.

One-on-one Volunteering

Spend time with a participant who shares your interests — playing chess, reading, doing art, working on the computer, taking a walk.

Best for: Patient adults who can commit to a regular weekly or biweekly visit.

Skill-share Workshops

Lead a one-time workshop in your area of expertise — gardening, photography, music, cooking, woodworking, financial literacy.

Best for: Professionals or hobbyists who want to share their craft.

Event Support

Help us run our annual fundraisers, Special Olympics events, community days, and family nights.

Best for: Groups, families, students looking for service hours.

Board & Committee Service

Apply your professional expertise (finance, legal, marketing, fundraising, HR) to help govern and guide the organization.

Best for: Mid-career and senior professionals with a deep commitment to the mission.

For Community Organizations

Host a participant. Build inclusion.

Our community networking participants volunteer at sites across Caldwell County — and the partner organizations they work with consistently tell us they get back more than they give.

Hosting is simple: we work with you to define the volunteer role, our staff support participants on-site, and you gain reliable help for tasks that need doing.

Current partner sites include: Caldwell County Public Library, local museums, parks, and community organizations.
